Totally agree. Any sport that requires the competitor to take repeated unprotected blows to the head should be banned as unreasonably dangerous. I'm no fan of combat sports but at least there the fighters are allowed to try and protect themselves and the fight is stopped if they can no longer do so.
You are absolutely correct, Louisa! This is abhorrent and should be stopped immediately. Shame on the facilitators and profiteers of those willing to put themselves at risk for money and so called 'fame'. Where are the regulators???
Sports like this increase / exacerbate the inflationary value of a currency as you mentioned below; about 20K for the grand prize, where other contests routinely award $500 or thereabouts; so one could see the levels of desperation an economies of scale to this game would produce.
