Great advice. And like men, get those hormone levels where they should be. Very neuro-protective, among other important benefits. Thanks for writing about this.

Great point. I had early onset memory loss that I reversed by stopping all memory loss causing medications, controlling then beating hypoglycemia, getting enough cholesterol, and adding sea salt and iodine along with B vitamin supplements. You also stop falling and your dexterity comes back. However, I still had persistent feelings of hopelessness and thought I was unmotivated until I engaged with a naturopathic physician and found out I had low progesterone and no cortisol because my adrenal glands were shot. Just a simple addition of chelated zinc and an EPA and DHA supplement derived from anchovies changed everything although it does take some months for the adrenals to grow back. Also helps to limit water to half your bodyweight in ounces and drink it in a few large servings per day because your body then knows to reject the excess. Most Americans have low brain sodium from sipping constantly and not eating sea salt.

Thank you so much for sharing your journey, Don. Your experience is incredibly insightful and highlights how powerful lifestyle and targeted supplementation can be in managing and reversing early cognitive issues. It’s encouraging to hear about your success with such holistic strategies.

I believe stories like yours can inspire many others to take proactive steps toward their own cognitive health.

Thank you. The only reason I make comments like this is in the hope someone reading might get a glimmer of optimism. It's such a strange feeling thinking you are headed for memory care.

Always great to gain some new perspectives. Just wanted to add that if breakfast is not protein based, it will increase cravings and anxiety as the glucose spike wears off. Also, get your Aluminum levels tested. High Aluminum prevents the consolidation of new memories just as surely as not enough sleep.

I'm 70 and wish my doctor would allow HRT. She feels the risks outweigh the benefits.
