My doctors are saying "no" to HRT because it's been more than 10 years since I have had any. I believe the benefits outweigh the risks, particularly for my early osteoporosis and to prevent cognitive decline.

As a 40 year old woman with breast cancer and borderline osteoporosis I am very interested in this. I will say though that research on the topic does not systematically show an increase in dementia and Alzheimer's in women treated with endocrine therapy which suppresses oestrogen. I was surprised by this finding.

This is a great post. My early onset memory loss was caused by hypoglycemia, memory loss causing medications, and near total abscence of proper fats, but upon autopsy 47% of Alzheimer's patients do have amyloid plaques in the brain. Any use of alcohol or marijuana will prevent your glymphatic system from cleaning those out while you sleep.

Also, high insulin is difficult to reverse, even if you have your blood sugar controlled. We live in a society where grain and bread products have been falsely promoted as the base of a proper diet. If you continue to get most of your calories from these sources you will suffer cravings and mental issues will be greatly magnified. Check out Glucose Revolution on You Tube to find out the proper order to eat foods to reduce your glucose spikes, and what foods to eat at different times of the day. Remember your liver is capable of converting protein to glycogen to feed your brain, you don't need many carbs, but your brain is mostly myelin, which is made from cholesterol, and if you do not get enough cholesterol, or if you take statins, you will hurt your mental function.
